Recently, one ruminated on the true purpose behind social media. Of course, most think of social media beyond nothing more than a vehicle with which to share pictures, written posts, and even personal snippets of their daily lives. Through the trading of such information, one collects ‘friends’, people who share similar interests, and perhaps even the same aspirations, dreams, hopes, despairs and dreads.
Though these interactions on social media are completely artificial in nature, studies have demonstrated the psychological effects of digital human interactions remain much the same as they did before the proliferation of digital technology, interactions which can be, and are, collected, qualified, quantified, and ultimately studied by social scientists.
But, has one never considered this data could be used for ulterior purposes, by the creators of Facebook, or perhaps by someone else one may not be aware? Are social media platforms really examples of benign forums merely utilized for the purposes of personal interaction?
Has one never wondered the information posted to Facebook may be used to analyze human behavior in ways heretofore unimaginable?
One may become surprised at the possible answers.
Awareness of the term ‘Big Data’ has been recently reaching critical mass, but very little is understood as to its implications. Upon considering these questions further, one has discovered perhaps indeed, there may be ulterior purposes in mind when it comes to the collection and subsequent analysis of social media data. Ultimately, what happens to those millions of information megabytes, the reams of data posted on Facebook and other social media platforms?
Turns out, the collected reams of social media data, to some of those finding it useful in formulating public psychological profiles, do in fact serve an ulterior purpose.
CAMBRIDGE ANALYTICA
It turns out, according to Dr. Michael Kosinski, CEO of a ‘Big Data’ company headquartered in Cambridge, England, one’s digital smart phone device, unwittingly serves as a vast psychological questionnaire. Individuals, when interacting with others on Facebook and other social media platforms, are unconsciously taking part in an ongoing psychological experiment. Every time one ‘likes’ a post, posts a picture, or makes a purchase online, that data can be collected into an aggregate profile used to formulate predictive psychological behavioral models.
This method of data collection Kosinski terms ‘the big five’ or ‘OCEAN’ method, based on personality traits extrapolated from the nature of personal interactions on various social media platforms. Apparently, one’s recorded digital tendencies on social media platforms can be indicators of one’s overall personality type. This ‘Big Data’, per Dr. Kosinski, has been used to create what he terms a ‘McPersonality’ search engine. This tool is available on his website, for anyone wishing to gauge what personality type they are projecting to the cyber world. Recently, Kosinski was approached by a colleague wanting to use the database collected by this vast search engine. The purpose of this inquiry turned out to be on behalf of Strategic Communication Laboratories, a marketing firm providing services formulated on behavioral models. Kosinski summarily accepted the offer, naturally because it offered a great influx of funds to the institute.
Upon researching SLC, one finds they are but one part of a complex corporate structure, and when investigating further, one discovers why this may be so.
BIG DATA USED TO INFLUENCE ELECTIONS
From diverse sources, SLC has been involved in influencing the outcome of various elections across the globe, from Ukraine to Nigeria, allegedly even here in the US, utilizing Cambridge Analytica’s ‘big five’ or OCEAN methodology of personality profiling. It is well known digital data sets culled form the internet by Google and other search engines are sold to corporations. Though corporations use this information primarily to formulate sales demographics, the fact this same information could be used to influence political elections, should appear problematic to any individual giving lip service to the idea of free democracy.
THE TECHNOCRATIC EPOCH
In his book Between two Ages, Zbigniew Brzezinski wrote that the globe is entering the technocratic epoch, where every human interaction, will not only be closely monitored by digital networks, but used to manipulate human behavior in ways preferable to the management of an emerging class of governing ‘technocrats’.
Could it be, the seemingly omniscient surveillance of populations, and the impetus for same, is not the result of rampant terrorism, or due to the prevailing perceptions of an increasingly dangerous world, but due to the fact this is all part of some surreptitious globalist agenda?
Could it be this digital surveillance data, when surreptitiously retrieved, is used for the purposes of consolidating a future global control matrix, slowly emerging from behind the curtain of national security?
Are the globes populations being incrementally conditioned through the widespread use of social media to readily accept such an Orwellian state of affairs?
Upon further research there is every indication Dr. Kosinki’s company is connected to Tavistock Institute in London. If one has consulted my other posts (How Crown Temple Rules America I-III), one will observe Tavistock has been at the forefront of groundbreaking research in the arena of human behavioral studies for several decades.
Keep in mind, Tavistock is privately funded by tax free foundations, financial arrangements closely related to the Crown Temple Bank in the city of London.
It is these bankers, in control of the money supply, who ultimately control governments.
It is clear, that in this 21st century, with the advent of widespread digital technology, the globe’s populations exist in an open air laboratory, studied like lab rats locked in a cage, watched over and routinely manipulated by mad scientists and bloodless bureaucrats.
In short summary, Aldous Huxley was correct, a Brave New World is emerging, one that transforms human beings into micro-managed ciphers. The only question to those still believing in the cherished ideas of democracy, what are you going to do about it?

thank for the gracious compliment!
A very interesting post. I am going to print for my Dad, he will find this most fascinating.
I can promise you the implications go much further than I was able to touch on. I find so many would dismiss this as conspiracy theory. However, I am deeply grateful for your kind appreciation of the subjects I’m attempting to cover here. I have never been one to shy away from controversy, either in my novels, or my blog!
This is a great post. There is validity here for sure. “Big Brother” is watching more then we are aware.
Thank you for being open minded concerning this sort of information. So many, merely concerned with mundane economic survival, automatically turn off when this is presented. Unfortunately, the fact of constant surveillance over the worlds populations is a growing reality. The bankers own and operate everything, and the growing surveillance grid is a more efficient method with which to keep track of commerce, but more importantly, human resources, which they regard as just another form of commercial inventory. Terrorism, is merely the pretense sold to the public to justify the ‘safety of protective security’ and the increasingly omniscient levels of personal surveillance.
There is truth in these words. We all need to be aware of what is happening around us. Its amazing what that magnetic tape on the back of our credit cards contain.
Soon, after further research, I shall detail where all of this is headed in the very near future. Money, credit cards, and cell phones will all become obsolete in lieu of a micro-chip that will be inserted beneath the skin of the arm, which shall contain all of one’s personal information, medical records, etc. etc. The elite bankers in control of all Western governments will manufacture an event and subsequent legislation that shall make this a mandatory requirement. Fortune 500 companies have already began to use this technology for purposes of ‘business efficiency’.
I believe you are correct. Its everything that has been foreseen and now coming more into focus and fulfilled.
I’m flattered you have chosen entertain with an open mind what many still consider inconceivable. Unfortunately, many will quickly dismiss what they consider far fetched notions.
Your thoughts are NOT far fetched. Many chose to NOT see what is happening around them. It is very much like the frog in the pot theory…. It begins to boil so slowly that before you know we are cooked.
Indeed, that is an apt analogy, as well as tragically comic.
THANKS FOR THE POST, GOD BLESS YOU SO MUCH.

Thank you so much for the gracious comment!
YOU’RE WELCOME.
SO HOW DO YOU SUGGEST WE FIX SITUATION AT HAND?
OR IS IT NOW TOO LATE?

Is this regarding the general state of the world, or does general question have to do with FB. If it is the latter, this is my hypothetical solution. With regard to FB the solution for now is to spread awareness of their general practices. Once the information reaches critical mass, this will hurt their business. Since the general principle is commerce, specifically the buying and selling of personal information, with a significant percentage of members leaving in protest, FB will have no choice but to alter their terms, conditions and policies. That would be the most short term objective to ameliorate FB personal privacy injustices.
BUT I’M CONCERNED, IS THERE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO EXPOSE FB? FOR A SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE OF USERS TO BOYCOTT THE WORLD’S LARGEST SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM, ROCK-SOLID EVIDENCE MUST BE MADE AVAILABLE.
TAKE “SNOWDEN AND THE NSA” AS AN EXAMPLE. OR “WIKILEAKS” AS ANOTHER.
THE ONLY WAY TO TO CAUSE A MASS OUTRAGE, THROUGH SPREADING AWARENESS. HOWEVER INFORMATION IS NEEDED FOR THAT TO HAPPEN.

As for evidence, there is more than significant evidence these invasive tactics have been going on for quite sometime. Spreading awareness of these practices may cause enough of a reaction to disrupt the commerce of FB in terms of the buying and selling of personal information. With a significant percentage of members boycotting FB, the subsequent disruption of commerce and falling market share should be enough in the short term for FB to alter their policies. In the meantime, it is up to the individual to research this topic and come to their own conclusions. The information is out there, one just has to seek it out, and then find ways to utilize it effectively to enact positive change, one mind at a time.

Perhaps it’s not coincidental that DARPA’S lifelog was cancelled and Facebook was launched the very next day
That’s an astute observation and I, too, happen to believe there was a causal relationship.
